The Harvest is Plentiful, But the Workers are Few
We are a community of growers and harvesters dedicated to providing high quality food to families in need. Through the use of regenerative agriculture, we ensure that we achieve a positive impact on our environment, and raise our plants and animals in harmony with the wildlife and the ecosystems to which they belong.
Food for Families
Our main objective is to provide food security to families in the Madison Area by partnering with individual families with children that are at risk or have already fallen into food insecurity.

Food Security is the access to sufficient food for all members of a household to enable a healthy and active life. A
household becomes food insecure when food access is insufficient or uncertain for one or more members of a given
household (Heckman, 2016).

11.8 percent of all people and 17.5 percent of children in Dane County fall into food insecurity (Heckman, 2016). And
according to Heckman, 2016 “ the rate of food insecurity exceeds one in three for some of the most vulnerable groups, including households that contain disabled person (37.7%), Hispanic households (34.5%), African-American households (34.6%), Single mothers (34.9%), and households below 100% of the federal poverty level (37.3%) (Bartfeld, 2015)
This is a problem for all, but particularly for children. Food insecurity can cause psychological, physical, and cognitive stress which can in turn cause the perpetuation of other issues and problems. One of the main drivers of this problem in Madison specifically has to do with areas that are considered food deserts (areas without a grocery store within reasonable walking distance.) In these areas families are forced to go to the nearest gas station which lacks fresh and healthy options. Low income families located in these food deserts often lack the needed nourishment required for children to live a healthy lifestyle.
